Department of Islamic Studies

Islamic Studies is the only department in Eden Mohila College which has a well-integrated curriculum at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, combining Quran, Hadith and other relevant subjects. The Department has started its B.A (Honours) course in 1996 and Masters in 1999. From its inception it has contributed significantly towards education. The department offers a four-year B.A.Honours and a one-year M.A. Courses. At present 800 students are enrolled in this department.

 Students are expected to develop a comprehensive knowledge of Islamic intellectual history and demonstrate competence in religious thought. The department provides excellent seminar facility with 1500 entries. The students enjoy full access to the extensive resources of the library. The seminar maintains a reading room that houses important reference works in the field with particularly rare printed materials.

Islamic Studies Department has a dynamic team of teachers who are committed for the well-being of the students. Al- Quran,  Al- Hadiths,  At Tafsir, Al- Fiqh, Arabic, Muslim philosophy, Islamic Economy, Islamic State, Islamic Banking etc are taught here.

 Through the years students from this department have made significant contributions in a wide range of fields. Every year the department secures position in the combined merit list of National University. specially in 2001, one student got the prestigious Prime Minister’s Medal  for her brilliant result (first class first) in B.A(Honours) examination.

Besides their academic studies the students participate in sports and cultural programs. Every year study tour is arranged for the students of Honours and Masters, under the guidance of the teachers. Every week a special class is taken on ethical education.
